The Church of Awesomology is an agnostic religious organization. Our goals include creating a community for rational discussion of religious and spiritual topics and developing a system of self improvement for all individuals.
The purpose of our organization is to provide the same sense of community to our members as a religious church would, but without dictating an individual members beliefs. As mere human beings, we do not claim to have any supernatural or divine knowledge.
I will be perfectly honest with you. This church started as a joke. But as time went on, we began to realize that the Church of Awesomology was exactly what our lives were missing.
Each person has the potential for vast awesomeness, but it must be carefully cultivated and developed. This is an individual process. The Church of Awesomology does not claim to have magical solutions to all of your problems. We are not a cult. We are a support group to aid you in becoming awesome. And it's free....
Developing personal awesomeness gives you more power to affect change around you. When you are more awesome, you can share the awesomeness with those around you. Your friends, your family, your community, your country, the world. the world today seems to be on the brink of crisis, and only awesomeness on a large scale will set things right.
Awesomology is a system designed to help make yourself more Awesome. We are here to teach and support each other in developing our Awesomeness, as well as teaching each other how to channel our Awesomeness, both as individuals and communities.
You already know that. We all know what Awesome is. The concept behind the word is deeply rooted in the language of our generation. Each person's definition of Awesome is different, yet each person instinctively knows what Awesome is and each person inherently possesses Awesomeness to some degree.
Think of when you describe something or someone as Awesome. It is that quality that we seek to expand on in ourselves and in the world around us. Awesomologists value Awesomeness.
In the last twenty years, the word "awesome" has gained a considerable amount of popularity. Along with this rise in usage, it would seem that it has gained new meaning. But has it really? The Bible uses the word 'awesome' more than you can shake a crucifix at. The meaning has remained essentially the same. When something is descibed as "awesome" that basically means that it's so goddamn awesome you wouldn't be able to describe it using any other word.
We hold that scientific theory should be the basic model for the universe around us, but the mind should be kept open to concepts unproven, or perhaps unprovable by science. Especially when it comes to topics traditionally in the domain of religion or spiritualism. On the other hand, non-testable beliefs should always be subject to some degree of doubt. CoA is non-dogmatic and intergratable with other religious views.
